He quickly shucked off his gray jumpsuit, hung it up in his closet along with the other orange-stripped academy issued garments, and climbed into his bed. Lying on his back, he allowed his thoughts to wander as he often did. The previous night he found himself, much to his surprise, dwelling on a certain pair of light brown eyes and dirty blonde hair. When he had first seen Laren, from his hiding place behind the trees near the front entrance of the academy, he thought she was kind of cute, but not his type. Over the last couple of days he found himself noticing the way she shook her head when she was confused. Even earlier tonight when he, Hadrian, and Ashlyn tried to explain the truth about the school to Laren, he could not help but notice the few freckles on her cheeks, and the slight dimple on the right side of her face just below her lips when he should have been trying to help his friends with their arguments. Even when she threw them out of the room, he could not help but admire her courage even though he knew she was frightened to death. He wished he could somehow comfort her and be there for her when she realizes the truth about the academy. After tonight, Laren was not likely to allow any of them to speak to her. Ridley wondered if she would speak to Ashley. Right now, Ashley was the one who needed comforting. No one knew what test fifty-two was. Only that one person had survived the test and he was killed shortly after. It was given in a section of the academy that none of the students, even Hadrian with his three blue stripes is allowed in. There are many speculations and rumors among the students about what test number fifty-two was and why it required a whole wing in the academy that none of the students -- even Hadrian with his three blue stripes -- are allowed in. Tomorrow one of his friend was about to enter that wing and chances are she will only come back out in a body bag. He could not allow that to happen. Ridley jumped out of his bed and quickly pulled on his pants and t-shirt. He willed himself invisible, pushed himself through the wall, and headed down the corridor toward the forbidden wing.
