Ridley stared at Ashlyn in stunned horror. "N-no, it's not possible. You haven't been here long enough for test 52! This can't be true"
"It is, though. I got the notice today. What am I going to do?" she wailed.
"Hold on." Hadrian said. "What do we know about test fifty-two? It's the toughest test."
"NO one has survived it." Ashlyn sobbed.
"Wait, what about Kyle? Maybe she can help?"
"How is Kyle going to be able to help? SHE'S escaped!" Ashlyn said.
"Yes, but she was there when Tim Thatcher was in test 52. It's why she escaped. You know that, you just aren't thinking straight. We've got to see if we can get her to tell us what happened. You know it scared her so bad she won't talk about it. But if we tell her it's your turn, Ash, then maybe she'll let us know."
"O-ok, you have a point. But we have to hurry. I don't have much time left."
Hadrian grabbed his deck of cards and began laying them out. Once again, the queen and knight of swords represented Kyle and himself. He laid out the next card. The Magician. Good. "The Magician" meant the mastery of special knowledge. Things would be OK because someone knew what they were doing. Whether it be understanding, knowledge, a resolution to a situation, or a longed for event, it would come "out of the blue." Next, he laid out the Page of Cups. Good, that was Laren's card he'd picked. Hopefully this meant she'd be helpful. He laid out another card. Ah, the Judgement card crossed the Page of Cups. This meant that she was going to have to make a major decision -- but for good or ill? Couldn't tell with a cross. Next came the Devil - crap, she may lean toward the institute. Hadrian scowled. He started focusing on the cards aiming the question at Kyle. Next came the card, Death. The test was death -- or a major change.  They already knew that part. The next card, The Hanged Man -- lessons and testing. This was not looking good. Please, Kyle, we need more info - Ash is next! He played the next card, "The Hermit" meant to search within oneself -- for truth, perhaps? It could also mean doing something on one's own (alone or solo). Hmmm, Laren was going to have to search alone. We wouldn't be able to help convince her. That was all. It wasn't much help. "I'm sorry Ash, but we did find out some more information. Let me try again a bit later. Maybe Kyle is unable to answer right now."
"Well, don't take too long, ok? I'm scared enough now. I do NOT want to go through this test."
"Laren will need more convincing but the cards say she'll have to find the truth on her own. I don't know where that will go, but we have to hope that she'll get it before it's too late."
